A Shared History in Professional Education
More than two decades after working together during the founding years of the Certification for Long-Term Care (CLTC®), Harley Gordon and his daughter, Emily Gordon Spencer, are building the next chapter of Insurance Education Advisors.
Harley Gordon
Founder and President
An attorney, author and educator, Harley created the CLTC designation in 1999 to help insurance and financial professionals understand the consequences of extended care for families, retirement income and financial independence. His books include How to Protect Life Savings from Catastrophic Illness and In Sickness & In Health, and his perspectives have been featured by PBS Frontline, The Wall Street Journal and CBS Evening News. He is also a co-founder of Agent Review.
At IEA, Harley guides the educational approach, helping professionals connect technical knowledge to the healthcare, extended care and retirement decisions their clients face.
Emily Gordon Spencer
Director of Operations
Emily brings firsthand experience from CLTC’s founding years to her role leading IEA’s day-to-day operations. She coordinates course delivery, graduate support and education partner relationships, with a focus on making enrollment, learning and ongoing membership a consistent, responsive experience.
Building the Next Chapter Together
Together, Harley and Emily share a commitment to practical education and personal support that continues beyond course completion.
